You can get this quest by asking Sara Peterson if she has anything else for you to do, once you have finished the quest Finding Martians and after you have asked her if she can give you anything to help with the rescue.
Sara needs samples of local flora species and asks you to get them.

The 
Red Mushrooms are not very easy to spot, but there should be some in the vicinity. Setting GrassDensity to None in the Options menu may help. Once you have them, talk to Sara again to finish the quest, get your reward, and get the next side quest: Flora Collection.
